Dentures
Dentures are removable replacement teeth designed to restore your smile and support everyday speaking and eating. At Ark Dental, each denture is planned around the shape of your mouth, your comfort, and a natural-looking result.
Because every patient’s needs are different, Dr. Song will examine your gums, remaining teeth, and bite before discussing the most appropriate type of denture.
Understanding your options
Types of Dentures
Full Dentures
Full dentures replace all of the natural teeth in the upper or lower arch. Conventional dentures are placed after the gums have healed. Immediate dentures can be placed after teeth are removed, then adjusted as the mouth changes during healing.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures fill spaces while working alongside the natural teeth that remain. They attach to a supporting framework and offer a removable alternative to a fixed bridge in appropriate cases.
Fit, Healing, and Adjustments
A new denture can feel unfamiliar at first. Speaking and eating usually become easier with practice, while immediate dentures may need more frequent adjustments as the gums heal and change shape. A denture should feel secure without creating persistent sore spots—please contact us if discomfort continues or the fit changes.
Daily care for a healthy mouth
Caring for Your Dentures
- Handle dentures over a folded towel or a sink of water in case they slip.
- Brush them daily with a soft denture brush and a recommended gentle cleanser.
- Rinse after meals to remove loose food and debris.
- Keep dentures moist in water or an appropriate soaking solution when not in use.
- Gently clean your gums, tongue, and any remaining natural teeth every day.
- Continue regular dental visits so we can check the fit and your oral tissues.
